003 3 Skills to Make You Rich And/Or a Better Leader

There are a lot of leaders who struggled to find the one skill that can help crush it. But if you build any of the three that I'm about to share, here are going to be set. Are you a leader trying to get more from your business in life? Me too. So join me as I document the conversations, stories and advice to help you Chivo matters in your life. Welcome to unbound with me, Chris DuBois. Hey, everyone, welcome to unbound. Today, I want to talk about three skills that can make you rich, and or a better leader, I care more about the better leader part just being honest. But it doesn't hurt to make money in the process, especially as a leader because that gain in capital is something you can leverage as one of the leadership levers to be able to get more of what you need in order for your team to be successful. So I want to talk about these three skills. Now, even if you aren't a leader, these skills can be super valuable for you to learn why you ask, because they're going to help you show up to a team and be able to actually deliver value. Right, if you have any of these three skills, you are going to be a more valuable person, right that someone that others just want around. So we're going to dive into these. But first, you should know that with one of these skills, right, you'll make some money. If you have two of these skills, that's where you can actually be rich. But if you have all three, you are going to be a showstopper. It is not easy to master all of these. But it is easy to at least get enough knowledge base in one, write that you can use that to start growing that skill and then move into other so and you will quickly see how these, these make you a better leader. First one selling, right, if you can get really good at selling, you can walk into any company and say, give me a job, right. And if you approve that you can actually sell they're going to hire you. Because every company should be hiring. Because as long as they can find someone who is willing to provide value, right, if I can provide value that makes it a no brainer, that like I can pay for myself, and then some, there's no reason now not to hire me and selling is one of the easiest ways to be able to do this. And now all selling comes down to the idea of selling solutions, right, we're not selling a doodad we're not selling a thingamajigger you're selling a solution to a problem, right the vehicle to get there is whatever you are selling. And so you know, it could be Hey, buy this gym membership, to solve your weight problem, buy this software to streamline your operations by this course, to learn a skill. Hey, Now, alternatively, we're selling ideas. And this is where a lot of the leadership piece comes in where you're you are trying to solve problems and you're using your your sales skills to make that happen. But you're also trying to to get people bought into an idea that you're pushing out, okay, we are going to do X because of y, that makes it easier to do Z, right. And people start seeing the value of what you're able to do and why we should be doing something as a leader and you have now sold them on the plan of action you want. Right. And that doesn't mean just go crazy getting really good at selling. So you can always have what you want. You want. You want to be able to collect ideas from the team and use those ideas in order to do something good. But it makes it way easier when you can actually sell. Right next. So we got selling number one to storytelling brand it ultimately is comes down to marketing, right? All marketing is essentially storytelling. And now a lot of ways you can define marketing, I view it as a changing of beliefs with the intent of driving action. Now for companies, it's going to be with the intent of driving a sale. But in leadership, we're not just looking for an actual sale, we're looking to just get someone to take action on something, ideally, because they want to do it. And so when we look at like external marketing, right, this, we're trying to make sales easier. We're trying to put things out into the world. So that people see the value and they come back, they come in to us. And so if we can get good at storytelling, we can get good at building a team because people are going to come to us they're going to want to be part of what we're doing. The you're getting people like bought into that cause, right, whatever your cause is so that that they actually want to see themselves as part of that. Now, internally You're trying to encourage people to take initiative. Right? We don't want to just tell people what to do, we want them to do it, because that's what they want to do. That's really leadership. Right? Where we can say, Hey, guys, this is the direction I want to go. And then people will follow you. They're not because you're grabbing them and pulling them along with you, because they see the value in what you're doing. And they want to do that. So now storytelling, and selling, right, number one, and two, if you have if you can have both of these, like, your, you are going to be powerful within a company. But if now if you can also do the third, which is socializing, right, which really comes down to finding the right who, for your house, that can write so rather than having to say hose go, how do I do this, you had already this person who can do this, to actually execute on and you're good at graphic design. Trying to build the weatherization of that higher up as a leader you are actually knows that means you're not going to be able to do as many of the like, lower level it's not yes, it's a lower level not like need to find the value of what anyone's doing really, like a leader has a responsibility to actually think bigger picture, run, run stuff, thinking more strategically. We're at a lower level, it's a lot more tactics, right, and you get bought into the strategy. But at some point, the leader needs to be able to go find the person who can execute those tactics within the strategy, because that's going to make everything run a lot smoother. Right? So with socializing, it's also having a network that you can leverage, right? Do you do you actually go out and like, talk to people on foster relationships and keep building that, because that is a skill, right? You're not just standing at the Punchbowl at a thing, you're going out meeting people and talking to them and getting your name out there. Right so that people know what value you can provide them again, all of these keep coming back to providing value, right, showing your value. And then finally, if you can have an audience that you can reach, it's a great way to get really good at socializing, people who are really good at socializing. They have an audience that is there listening to them, because they're very good at this. And so you can see a lot of people who have that skill. So Okay, those are the three skills. Again, get one of these, you should be good to find a job anywhere get to you will be rich, and if you can find all three, you are going to become a force to be reckoned with selling storytelling, socializing. I hope you can learn something you can put these to play. Keep getting after it. Make sure to deserve it.
